I was born in Detroit, Michigan in a Greek family. My grandparents came to the United States from Greece and Turkey to forge a new life through hard work and perseverance. Fun fact, Joseph Pilates was half Greek!
I graduated with my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1983. Subsequently, I worked in Dallas for Texas Instruments and in Boston at MIT Lincoln Lab on government programs prior to parenthood. Since work demanded long hours away from home, I decided to stay home to raise our son.
When our youngest son was 9 yrs old, we adopted our older son from Viet Nam when he was 13, while I was working at Qualcomm in cell phone development. With 2 sons, one non-English speaking teenager and a 4th grader, I had to learn how to raise two energetic boys. Once we brought our older son home to San Diego, I decided it was time to focus full-time on them.
How I Became A STOTT Pilates Instructor
I started taking Mat Pilates along with spin classes, and fell in love with Pilates! After a knee injury, I started taking privates on the Reformer with an instructor. I was hooked! I could feel the difference right away: core strength, strong lean muscles, and better flexibility.
He noticed how quickly I mastered the exercises so he suggested I become a Pilates instructor. I took my STOTT Pilates certification classes with John Garey Pilates in Long Beach, CA in 2006- 2007. I tested out in my practical and written exams in the 98th percentile. Ever since, I've enjoyed being a fully certified STOTT Pilates Instructor teaching the most effective holistic fitness classes and privates.
My STOTT training is great for Rehab and Injury Prevention and athletic training. I will take you step by step so you will feel your core training becoming stronger, lean long muscles and greater flexibility for sports and life. Core Training using the Pilates equipment is the best! I love teaching these valuable lessons to my clients so they achieve a healthy and vibrant life!
